((A stab at a new forum RP. It was not as successful as the dinner party.))
Siobhan taped up the last balloon and stood back to examine her work.
"It looks positively festive, m'lady," commented Tristan. She winced at the use of her title, then chuckled. Multicolored balloons festooned nearly every free surface of the condo's great room. Siobhan frowned. They would have to clean up very carefully after the party. Any remaining latex posed a choking hazard.
"By the Wee Man. Ah'm a mother," she said quietly.
"What was that?" Tristan asked.
"Nothing , Tristan. Jist woolgathering."
"And will we be seeing Shiv the raccoon, today?"
"Ach, no. Ah dinnae ken 'ow Robi makes any words wit that snout, an ah'd like tae see mae guests as they arrive. They shuid say, "blind as a raccoon." Besides, we cannae 'ave tae hostesses distracted by every little shiny." They shared a chuckle. Perhaps Robi's own magic had been affecting Shiv's shape changing spell. The completeness of the transformation surprised the young mage. Her psyche experienced a profound shift in perception. Shiv confessed to herself that she needed to take some time to research some safeguards, but she had kept putting it off. The wee bairn enjoyed another fuzzy mummy too much for Shiv to mess with it.
She scanned the room once more. They had gone with a caterer this time. Shiv finally faced it. The kit just took too much time and energy for the young mother to prepare food for the party. The pup's feeding schedule kept the two of them attached more often than not, and it had only recently slacked now that the baby had opened her eyes and ears. For not the first time Siobhan considered contacting her grandmother to get a recommendation for a personal chef, maybe a live in nanny. She sighed. She had bought the entire floor when she gave the condo to Becky. It might be time to build out.
Shiv guessed she could ask Samantha about it at the shower. The elder vampire would arrive soon after sunset. The young mage shivered, more than a little tense at Seanamhair's decision to attend. Siobhan put those concerns into touch, for now.
Weekah Relena stood about 46 centimeters and weighed nearly a stone. Light grey fur covered most of her body and her mask and tail rings had started to darken. A think tuft of lavender hair sprouted from between her ears. Her development had not quite matched the pattern Shiv had researched. The kit stood a taller than an average raccoon at four weeks. She could crawl, spider-like on her four legs. Her hand included an opposing thumb. Shaking her head, Shiv remembered just how little anyone really knew about animal-human hybrids. Robi had grown to adult size in a few hours. Weekah would develop in her own time and in her own ways.
Shiv returned to the final touches of the decorations, listening to Robi and Weekah chitter back and forth as they played together on the floor. The kit had grown very vocal in the last few days; twittering, hissing, and growling. As the pup gained size, Robi found more confidence in her interactions. That wife wouldn't feed her adopted child, however. Like so much about Robetra, Siobhan found it strange. Still, she accepted her partner and didn't press it. Perhaps it was time for Shiv should look through Robi's artwork, she mused. The paint, chalk, and marker might hold some explanation.
Becky had calmed. Shiv would think that a woman who had faced Lord Recluse wouldn't have cowered from a wee baby smaller than your hand. With all the courage and strength Siobhan loved in that wife, Becky accepted the child as her own. "Name?" she had teased. "Why she's my fuzzy-wuzzy, cutesy woutsey, wee wee, babeebee. Why can't we just call her that? Just Wee- Wee, maybe?"
Siobhan walked through the condo one last time, checking the balloons and streamers, the hot and cold dishes, the freshness of Robi's beloved strawberries and pinafores, and the availability of beverages. She looked at herself in the mirror. The subtle, flower patterned sundress suited her figure and the warm day in equal measure. It would also allow Weekah easy access when it came time to feed. Satisfied, she joined her family on the floor of the great room and waited for guests.
