((For fun, I had Siobhan get cursed by a group of fairies. For weeks, she wandered around Paragon City looking like a redheaded Tinkerbell. It added a few complications to early dates until they discovered that it required a "Prince Charming" to lift the hex.))
Jacek had slunk off to his coffin somewhere. Siobhan had pulled back the curtains and flung open the windows. Sunshine and cool September air fill the space of Shiv’s flat. Loud, random cuts from Imogen Heap’s Speak for Yourself spill out to the streets below.
I can’t wait… to be with you,
No I just can’t sit still
Piles of clothes lie on the bed and in the costume room. Shiv holds up another tee to her bare chest and looks in the mirror. She sighs. She feels slightly more ridiculous intoday's getup than yesterday's. Having the curse halfway lifted was still better than no way at all.
Her hips sway to the music.
Right now another please,
Right now another please, just like that,
Like that another one babe,
And kiss me for longer.
Oh hey Baby don't you run away,
Oh hey Baby don't you run away,
Come here and finish what you started.
Shiv grins; “Finish what you started,” indeed. She looks at the top of the Tinkerbell costume she had been cursed to wear, now pulled down to her waist. Princess Charming. Who would have thunk it? The skirt remained firmly in place, however. No matter how matter how many times Shiv had tried to pull it down, the thought fled her mind before she even touched the hem. Dragonfly wings stayed affixed to her back.
Happiness and silhouettes
Revolving in the deep water indigo
It's high tide, night sky
Pleasure moment
Thinking big
Thinking positive
And itching to get on with it
It's all stops out
It had started with pizza.
In exchange for the power of flight, Shiv had made a deal with a group of Fae from the Summer Court. Six pizzas offered on the night of each full moon in trade for a pair of gossamer, functional wings. Apparently, The Sidhe just couldn’t get decent delivery in the Fae Realms.
Shiv guesses she should have known better. Summer Sidhe are always so pissy as the autumnal equinox nears. On a whim, the young mage had replaced a pepperoni pizza with one of her favorites, ham and pineapple. After sniffing the tasty concoction, one of the fairies looked up at Siobhan. “Since you have the sense of a pixie” he said with a look of distaste on his face, “You might as well look like one!”
Poof!
Love, love…you’re already home.
Party’s over and you don’t look so good.
Like her friend Lilith had said, it was totally Siobhan’s fault. Making a deal for magic never quite works out how one plans.
Siobhan sighs. She wants to wear a new frock to Macy’s wedding. She likes James, insecurities and all. He had talked to Shiv before he and Macy first started dating. Shiv couldn’t bring herself to believe the accusations of mind control leveled against him. She wasn’t sure it was the healthiest relationship in the world, but it deserved its chance. All relationships deserve a chance.
It's complicated,
(This time I think it could be)
Triangulated,
(It could be just what we need)
So what d’you say, we give it up and walk away?
Nothing to salvage anyway
The mirror reflects young woman’s frown. She doubts she will be invited to the ceremony at all, after all that had been said between her and Macy. Perhaps the UK contingent of “Friends of the Teen Phalanx” could spend the time at a pub together. Shiv reckons Sean would be up for it.
It would be nice to go, though, a new frock, holding Becky's hand.
Inside-out, upside-down,
Twisting beside myself.
Stop that now.
You're as close as it gets
Without touching me.
Oh now don't make it harder
Than it already is.
I feel a weakness coming on.
Shiv pulls up a blue tank top from the pile. This would work well enough for tonight’s practice. She grinned broadly in the mirror. Maybe, if they could find time after practice, she wouldn’t have to worry about the curse much longer. Happy and smitten, she swirls away from the mirror, stepping in time to the music.
Big trouble, losing control.
Primary resistance at a critical low.
On the double gotta get a hold.
Point of no return one second to go.
No response on any level,
Red-alert this vessel's under siege.
Total overload all systems down they've got control.
There's no way out.
We are surrounded.
Give in, give in and relish every minute of it.
