((This is a fictionalized transcription of some RP Ultradynamic and I had. This would become a common task, cleaning up in game or other chat logs and adding details to make it more like a story. It's not always easy and the pieces tend to become very sing-song. Chance and Reg had a lot of just regular slice of life conversations like this. As smart teen activists, they talked out about birth control before they ever had sex. They talked about their favorite Indian restaurants. As mundane as the moments were, they were always fun to RP out.))

"Wanna go grab some breakfast?" She asked with a smile.

"I'd like that" Chance replied.

"Cool. At the base or do you know a good spot?"

Chance looked Regina up and down. Tucked into jeans and t-shirt broadly emblazoned with a peace symbol, she looked beautiful. She always looked beautiful to Chance. He thought for a moment and then decided to take things to the next level.

"Base sounds good. Make you an omelet?"

"Sure thing!" That beautiful smile, again.

They started to make their way from Icon to the base portal.

Watching American Promise run on the ground below him, Chance ran a few equations in his mind. He had to figure out a way to increase the output of his rocket boots. He smiled at the thought of flying through the air with her in his arms.

"You look great," he says over their private comm. "A perfect shirt if you ever... when you meet my mom"

"Really?"

"Yeah, she's been in the peace movement for a long time."

"Sweet." She kissed Chance quickly as he landed by the portal. This is my boyfriend, she thought as she stepped in.

"Yeah, I think it's one of the reasons my folks spilt," Chance continued as they made their way to the kitchen.

"Oh wow," Regina responded. "A hawk and dove kind of thing?"

"Well, they respected each other's differences, but just didn't see eye to eye. Got worse as they got older"

"Yeesh" Chance took her hand as they walked into the kitchen, planting a brief kiss before he moved to the refrigerator.

"Dad kept you busy yesterday?" she asked.

"A bit, but I've been staking somebody out and kind of laying low."

Chance started rummaging through the frig, stacking ingredients in his arms.

"Well, let me know if you ever need help with a case" Regina offered. Chance let that thought pass through his mind for a moment. Having Regina along on a stake out would certainly make the time go faster; potentially distracting, though.

"I will. This one is bugging me. I'm pretty sure I know who did it, but... well. It's just a feeling." he replied.

"Yeah, I know the feeling."

Arms full, Chance made his way to the counter and began laying out the eggs and vegetables. Finding a knife after poking through a few drawers, he started chopping.

"I did a lot of work yesterday for Vanguard. Took down a Rikti "War God" with Fusionette and Jim Temblor," Regina explained. "He was huge."

"Really? They don't let me into those zones yet."

"Well, sometimes I think the city fast tracked me..."

"Why is that?" Chance asked, followed by, "Oh, any veggies you don't like?"

"Nope. I'm a total herbivore." answering the second question, first. "Well, patriotic theme, young, female, black... I make a good poster child."

Chance put down the knife and walked back to where she leaned against the counter. "You forgot gorgeous and smart and brave."

He kissed her.

"And you forgot lucky," she said, then kissed him back.

Chance smiled as he turned back to the food. "Toast?"

"Sure, or tortillas. Whatever."

Chance smiled at memory of a few nights ago. Regina had taken him to a remote cove in Talos. Their date had been interrupted by a Rikti raiding party. It had been an interesting and exciting time during… and after."I think the other night was my first go with the Rikti. Must have been scary, living here during the invasion."

"I had a nice talk with Ace yesterday. It's been over a month since Mike and I hung out," Regina said. "It was weird."

"How so?"

"The Rikti, that is."

"Oh," Chance said, dropping a pat of butter into a heated pan. "Not the talk with Ace?"

"Well, that was good. Imagine seeing your fiancé die, disappearing, coming back and finding her alive..."

Chance walked away from the melting butter to look Reg in the eyes. "I do. And it scares me."

He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to him. He felt her arms return the hug with a controlled strength.

"Even at a girlfriend level," he whispered in her ear.

"Yeah," she said softly, head on his shoulder. "And I wear more armor than you, so imagine how I feel."

Chance chuckled. "I thought you liked seeing my arms." A sizzling sound came from the stove top. "Shit, the butter."

"Opps." She watched him as he broke the hug and quickly walked to lift the pan from the flame. "Well, I like mine exposed, too."

Disaster averted, Chance poured the eggs into the pan. His hand worked the pan in a circular motion, spreading the batter evenly.

"Hey, can I tell you something?" Regina asked.

Chance answered, smiling while adding the vegetables to the pan. "I like to think so." Omelet cooking, he placed some bread in the toaster. He turned to her, keeping one eye on the pan.

"Cool." She began. "Well, when Harley died, I was Mike's main confidante. I sort of... fell for him, but it wasn't returned. Everything is good now, but just so you know... Just friends again."

"Thank you for telling me that. I..." he paused, trying to phrase it. "I had heard something like that."

"Yeah, I guess it was sort of common knowledge. Like I said; just wanted to let you know."

Chance looked at her, carefully choosing his words. He had said this once before, with someone else. He did not get the answer he had hoped, that time. He turned back to the omelet; almost perfect. "I want you to be happy, Reg," he said, moving the pan to a trivet. "If it's not with me, I understand."

She crossed the small space between them in two long strides; turned him around to face her. "It's not like that, Chance," she said, taking his hands in hers."

"I know," he said weakly.

"I just know how rumors get around with this group and I wanted you to hear it from me."

"I'm not going to lay any claims on you I ..."

"Chance!" She said sharply. "You are my boyfriend. You're not some kind of second place prize, ok?"

"I'm lucky to have you," she continued.

"I just wanted to let you know how I feel," Chance replied. "And I won't believe anything I hear about you unless it comes from you, OK?"

"OK," she said, then kissed him firmly on the mouth. He responded, lips pressed tightly against hers.

"I think things worked out great," she said after catching her breath.

"I do too," he said. "And I think things are working out great between us."

"Me, too" she said with a smile.

"But now I must pass… THE COOKING TEST!"

"Oh?" Regina said, laughing.

"Don't laugh," Chance said with a lecherous smile. "I'll have to take you into a dark corner somewhere."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah," he said, kissing her neck.

"Cool."

They kissed, arms entwined, eyes closed with visions of each other and in delight of that feeling. Chance sniffed. "Shit. Toast."

He broke away, moving to the toaster, trying to get it to cough up its burning contents. She laughed.

"Whew," Chance said. "Just in time. Grab some plates?"

"Sure," Regina said, walking over to the cabinets…
