((The relationship between Chance and MacKenzie started quite by chance. Chance had been working with Rabid Squirrel's teen aged character, Alisha, when she mentioned to me that she had a new character for Chance to meet. Chance had not had much luck dating since the breakup with Kori, not hitting it off well with anyone. Chance and Mac hit it off right away. Within a few weeks of dating, the two had their first sleepover.
This bit came from a forum RP that lasted a few weeks.))
She looked really good in his clothes. Stretched out across his futon, the orange of a Dutch football jersey draped over her shoulders, sleep adding a childlike innocence to her face, Chance decided Mackenzie looked amazing in his clothes.
He shifted in the futon, cautious not to disturb her rest. Her hair felt smooth against his fingertips as he stroked it. A strand curled around his finger. Chance couldn't remember the last time he felt so at ease. Languid mornings in bed were not the style of his ex-fiancée.
The comparisons would have to stop. This had started so differently, flowed so easily and along such a different path. This relationship stood on its own. This woman… the wonderful, attractive, charming, and witty woman lying in his bed, bore no comparison to any that came before.
Chance slipped off the futon and rose to his feet. He crossed to the window in only a pair of cotton pajama bottoms. The pane slid open silently. The warmth of the sun settled on his face as he sat on the frame, breathing in the air of a new day and letting go of the past.
She felt him move off the futon and slowly opened her eyes to watch him as he crossed the room, opened the window, and sat in the morning sun. It was a beautiful sight that she awoke to. Chance, the man who had taught her so much already, yet she knew there was still so much more to come with him. Lord and Lady he was the most amazing man she had ever met. They were so different yet so much alike. She worried as she lay there, in his shirt, wrapped in his sheet, she worried that she might be too different. He was so... refined, well traveled and so smart, so very, very smart. She felt like she was out of her league with him at times, but it still felt so right.
She shuffled quietly in the bed, moving to be able to watch him better, to take in the beauty of the most perfect morning she'd ever had. She thought to herself. I hope there are more to come.
The sound of an opening door drew Chance's attention. Catching Mac's opening eyes he whispered, "Be right back," as he padded across his room. She watched him and smiled as their eyes met. He slid open the shoji screen and slipped through, closing it quickly behind him. "おはよう," MacKenzie might hear, followed by more quiet Japanese and a muffled sound of surprise. After a few moments, the door opened and closed again.
MacKenzie waited and when he came back in the room, her smile widened. Her arms instinctively wrapped around him when he joined her on the bed again, the shiver at the kiss brought her eyes to meet his again and that smile, "Morning" she whispered. "Good morning," he spoke softly into her ear." He nuzzled her shoulder, enjoying the warmth of her against him. "It might be time to get dressed. Yukiko is back from her boyfriend's. She's running out to get breakfast. Would you like to meet her?"
She laid there and looked into his eyes "I would love to meet her." She started to get up before leaning in to kiss him. "Umm. I may need to borrow another shirt until I can get home to change." She blushed a bit and smiled playfully.
Chance grinned, eyes twinkling. "I think I have just the thing." He rolled off the futon, quickly turning back for a kiss before walking to a simple, if stylish dresser. "I think it's clean... yep." He pulled a t-shirt from a drawer and held it up for her to see.
"I must be special if you are willingly letting me wear this one."
He returned to the bed, bending to hand it over and kiss her again. That kiss lingered. "Hmm, you better change your shirt by yourself," he gently teased, playfully pulling at the edge of the jersey. "If you ask for help, we might be," he bit his lip, "busy by the time Yukiko comes back." He slowly slipped away from the bed, pulled a t-shirt out for himself and asked, "Coffee? Tea?" and waited for an answer before stepping back out into the common area. She took the shirt and immediately changed her clothes. "Tea please I am not much for coffee."
"Black or green? hmm. Or Herbal?"
"Mmm, green tea please"
Mac finished getting dressed, searching his bathroom for a comb or brush to run quickly though her hair. Her mind raced as she realized only a few moments separated her from Chance's sister. Would the girl like her? She worried that she was a bit unprepared for the meeting; worried that his sister will get the wrong impression of her. MacKenzie thought about the man in the other room and smiled. She took one last look in the mirror and headed into the kitchen to find him.
Chance poured hot water from an electric kettle into a small, brown, clay pot. Imogen Heap played from a small set of speakers on the counter top. Still dressed in his pajama bottoms, Chance brought over three handleless mugs and the pot to the kitchen island. His lips spread into a smile as he saw MacKenzie enter the room. He walked to her, placed a hand on her cheek, then kissed her lightly. "I could get used to this, you know. Seeing you in the mornings." He kept his fingers on her face as if unsure she would fade away.
A door open behind them. A re-usable bag in each hand, a Japanese teen entered the aloft. "Good morning," the young woman called. She heaved the bags onto the counter as Chance stepped away. "MacKenzie, this is my sister, Yukiko. Yukiko, this is,...," he bit his lip, carefully listening as the words came out of his mouth, "my girlfriend, MacKenzie."
Yukiko extended right hand out from her chest, offering a handshake. "It is very nice to meet you. I hope you are hungry." Brown eyes blinked as she caught sight of Chance's favorite t-shirt on the blond woman. She turned quickly to help Chance pull warm, chocolate filled croissants and containers of freshly cut strawberries, melon, pineapple, and blackberries. Smiling, Chance filled the mugs with green tea.
"My brother tells me you are a nurse? Is that true?" Yukiko asked, her eyes looking back and forth between them. "How did the two of you meet?"
The spent the morning chatting, talking about nothing of much importance. Chance talked about meeting at the Sapphire concert, there first dates. The topic of tights came up and everyone took their masks off. They talked about where they came from and were heading to. Chance had to show Yukiko the location of MacKenzie’s home town of Denver on a map.
Eventually Chance pointed to a clock on the wall, its numbers written in Japanese. Yukiko's eyes widened as she stepped back from the island. "Would you please excuse me. I have a class." She walked through the rooms of the apartment, gathering her backpack, laptop, and some item consisting of brass gears and test tubes, before returning to the back door. "It was nice meeting you, Makenji," she bowed in the older woman's direction then waved at Chance. "じゃ ね!"
"又 ね!" Chance responded, as his sister ran out the door. He turned his attention back to MacKenzie. "Now you've met family. This must be serious." He grinned leaning across the island for a kiss.
"I think it would be fun to take you back home. I could show you off"
"Oooh, I think Dr. Destroyer might be attacking that weekend," He winked. "I'll have to get back to you." Chance's lips touched hers before she had an opportunity to respond. The kiss dispelled her thought.
He had a way of doing that to her. He became the center of her world, when he was around. It was nice, actually; being able to focus on someone else for a change and not herself or the magicks that she was trying too hard to control and figure out. It was definitely a good change of pace for her. "I haven't met family in a long time, Mac. I would be honored."
"I was trying to decide between Ireland, Japan, or Tahiti for your birthday, but Denver would work, too. Whenever you want. I am all yours, to use as you see fit." He leaned in for another kiss, playfully nibbling her lips.
She smiled and then let out a small laugh, "hmm I want you to surprise me. We can save for another time. I do not want to know. I want to get there and just be totally surprised." She smiled at him and catches his eyes with hers. "I have loved all of your surprises so far, so…" She bit her lower lip for a moment as she thought. "I want to go somewhere warm though and maybe more obscure and off the beaten path. You know avoid all the tourist traps but see somewhere the way the people who live there see it." She nodded, pleased with herself. "Is that a big enough challenge for you?"
"Somewhere tropical. Beach or no beach?"
"A beach, she told him, "because that will be more challenging for you. Beaches are very touristy" She smiled as she pulled him into a soft kiss. His knee trembling, Chance welcomed the kiss, and the next, and the embrace that followed. Time to find out what a creative mind and some money could come up with.
